Glycerol

A colorless, odorless, viscous liquid. It's sweet. It has strong hygroscopicity. Can absorb hydrogen sulfide, hydrocyanic acid, sulfur dioxide. Can be miscible with water and ethanol, 1 part of the product can dissolve in 11 parts ethyl acetate, about 500 parts ether, insoluble in benzene, carbon disulfide, trichloromethane, carbon tetrachloride, petroleum ether, oil. It is easy to be dehydrated and lose water to generate diglycerol and polyglycerol. Oxidized to produce glyceraldehyde and glyceric acid. It solidifies at OºC and forms a rhombic crystal with flash. Polymerization occurs at temperatures around 150 ° C. It is incompatible with anhydrous acetic anhydride, potassium permanganate, strong acid, etchant, fatty amine, isocyanate and oxidant.

Use of Glycerol

1. Glycerin is an important organic chemical raw material, which is widely used in many sectors of the national economy. It is an excellent hygroscopic agent, antifreeze agent, lubricant, solvent and co-solvent, and is an important raw material for the production of polyester, explosives, medicine and so on. 4. Glycerol is used in stainless steel polishing solution, trivalent chromium plating solution and electroless copper plating. The combination of glycerol and triethanolamine in a certain proportion can be used for bright nickel plating at room temperature.
